PS5: Bravia XR TVs with exclusive features Perfect for PlayStation 5

Tone mapping with HDR automatic

With Tone Mapping via HDR automatic, the HDR settings are optimized according to Sony in the first setup of the PS5. The console automatically detects the respective BRAVIA model and selects the best HDR setting for the TV.

Automatic genre image mode

The BRAVIA XR TVs will recognize whether a game is played or running movies or series. The genre image mode switches the TV automatically when playing in the game mode in which the input signal delay is minimized, thereby increasing the reaction rate. For other media, the default mode is activated, which creates the focus on image processing.

120 pictures per second, 4k and more

The following properties are likely to be considered by televisions at this level as a matter of course: supporting devices for compatible playback rates of up to 120 frames per second and a 4K resolution, where HDMI 2.13 is used.

Sony also refers to an input signal delay of 6.0 ms at the Z9J models. The result should be an exceptionally liquid and responsive playback , in the shooter and sports games as well as games with a similar tempo bring the action immediately on the screen .

However, the fine print is to be observed: Input signal delay under internal test conditions measured with the Z9J via the 4K / 120 BPS game HDMI input. Deviations depending on the model, in real time or under specific operating conditions are possible. The measured input signal delay time for the other TV models is according to Sony under the same test conditions 8.5 ms.

If you already have a BRAVIA XR, you do not have to replace the device. According to Sony, the exclusive features are available after viewing an update on all BRAVIA XR models. The provision of the update is expected to be done at the end of 2021.
