Low Poli 3D action TOREE 2 affected by Kirby of the stars and Sonic -Horroreness and Cartoon-like things with horror elements and mix [Developer interview]
An interview with the developer of the new indie game I m worried about this project. This time, we will deliver a mini-in-tavy to the Low Pole 3D action THREE 2 developer released on October 1 for PC.
This work is a 3D action that will be the sequel to THREE 3D (Interview). It is characterized by low polygon expression in the late 1990s. The popularity that was popular in the previous work has been further strengthened, and the player captures all nine stages. There is also a secret character that can be unlocked. At the time of article writing, it is not Japanese.
THREE 2 is delivered for 100 yen.
— First, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?
MARCUS Hello, MARCUS. I think he enjoys the game from about 6 years old. The game I like is Sonic Adventure 2 and Ocarina at the Legend of Zelda.
-Why did you start developing this work?
Marcus When I was a child, I became crazy about the game. In my dreams, I thought that If this part of that game is changed this part, it was cooler. It feels like making your version game in my head. For example, I still remember I wanted to add a forest stage to Super Mario land 2 six gold coins.
— Please tell me the characteristics of this work.
MARCUS honestly, I do not know if I have so characteristic in this work. I m tends to mix with a cute and cartoon-like things with surreal horror elements, so it may be characteristic (laughs). I like to make these things very much, I also like to see people s response. Other than that, in this work, we are trying to adopt some of a fairly limited nostalgic feeling.
— What kind of person do this work do you want to play?
MARCUS honest, difficult question. I feel like I m targeting someone who played a game like a long time, but I feel like you can enjoy more young players. So please let the person who liked me to target (laughs).
— Is there a work affected by this work?
Marcus is definitely the Kirby of the stars and Sonic. We are also a great impact from Sega Saturn game library and Sega arcade game. I think that the influence of anime is also in this work, but it can not be said clearly somewhere (laughs).
— Is there any plan to support Japanese work? Is it possible to translate?
There was a MARCUS plan, but I have not been able to realize anything yet. But I would like to deliver my own game to Japan more properly. If you can receive translation from volunteers, you will be happy to be equipped with this work.
— Did you have an impact on development by new coronavirus?
Marcus I am not doing a game as a full-time job, so the free time to develop games has increased (laughs). I usually work from home. People who work together (especially for THREE 3D and live in separate places, so much development was done remotely.
— Is it okay to deliver and monetize this work?
MARCUS, of course! Please do it. I am very happy to think that people are worthwhile to make their games, delivery and videos. So, if you use my game to make a video, I would like to see myself, and I m really, really happy! In addition, there is no problem with profitability.
— Lastly, please give a message to the Japanese reader.
It is nice to be able to incorporate the attractiveness of MARCUS Sega Saturn into this work. For me, Nintendo 64, the first PlayStation, Sega Saturn s age was the most enjoyable. It was the beginning of the 3D game in the household game machine. And most of the funny games and creative games I was affected were Japan s game. So, in the history of game development, I m glad if you could convey the thoughts of thanks to that very special era and Japanese game developers in this work.
--thank you very much.
